zdashamber: painting - a frog wearing a bandanna (Default)

I need to clear all the half-done draft emails off my old webhost so I can move to a webhost that doesn't suck, and the greatest mass of those are quizzes. But alas, the sucky old webhost's mail accessing is all broken now, so you get Fresh New Memage...
Post a list of up to 15 books/movies/TV shows that you've had a fannish love of at some time in your life.

-- Have your friends guess your favorite character from each one.
-- You can cross out the show/movie/book/other genre and put the character when someone guesses.

Right you are for Spock and the Shoveler! (I have a gift. I shovel well...) And I'm getting more and more Book-loving as time goes by, but he's still not quite the first...

And he has one of my favorite lines: We're on a date with Destiny, and she's ordered the Lobster.

Alas, no, but I do like him. "Are you an innocent bystander?" "Lord knows I try to be."

I shall resist the urge to start naming characters at random.

There's a reason that I'm moderately annoyed that GURPS: Vorkosigan hasn't made it to print

I resurrected a thread about GURPS Vorkosigan on RPG.net last week to see if there was any news, and someone mentioned that Steve Jackson had mentioned the week before that there had actually been some motion forward on it... But no one from SJG said anything... So it's probably not dead?

If I was truely worried about it I'd just ask the author.

Spock! How can you not love him?

Data is perhaps my second favorite... When I was younger I thought he was cute... And Jadzia Dax I also really love. She was what a woman character ought to be. Ds( had a lot of good characters, though.

Likewise, love Kaylee, but not quite the most of all...

Number 9 should be Bats, it just should be. It's the law.

And #11, I'll plump for Aerich, just for fun. But I barely know you, so I'll leave it there.

From: [identity profile] zdashamber.livejournal.com
Right for both! I thought about whether it should be someone other than Bats, but no one else quite made it...

And yes, Aerich. The best part of the Viscount of Adrilankha for me was seeing him again.

My tries

From: [identity profile] aiyume.livejournal.com
Okay. I'm gonna guess...

#3: Odo
#4: Jayne (and such a lovely hat, too)
#5: Xander
#7: Delirium (though if you're going for more minor characters, I'd pick Lucien)
#10: I'll take a stab at Simon Illyan (but he'll probably stab me back)

Odo and Illyan: quite so! Something of a theme, there. (And I imagine Illyan would get stabbed, and then you'd get shot from about four directions and two elevations...)

Jayne's a lot of fun, but not quite; Xander's probably my favorite of the main three Buffy characters, but not the best of the show.

Since you seem to like competent, no-nonsense characters, I'll guess Mal, Spike, Death, and Hermione. If nothing else, those would make for a great fan-fic combo.

The brain twitches at the very thought. ;)

Spike: yes! Pretty, and pretty good about calling bullshit for what it is. The others: all admirable in their way, but not quite at the top of my list.

2. Picard. It's all about the voice!
4. Wash. Though, honestly, I'm utterly shocked it isn't Jayne. Truly. There might be tears.
6. Nightcrawler
7. Fiddler's Green
12. Dumbledore
13. Caine, though I thought you hated the lot of them. ;)

You are teh winningest. I pay enough homage to Jayne already with the fine Jayne hat Silent E made me... Wash with the wit and the humor!

Right on Nightcrawler. I'm suprised I let on about that one...

And right on Caine! Love the bastard. I love them all! Love, hate, something like that.

Picard and Dumbledore are both kind of non-information-sharing assholes, though I love their taste in tea/candy. Fiddler's Green is a fine fellow, if a bit ineffective.

I think you're a Snape person. No-nonsense, bitter, without much visible emotion - it fits.

I'm a Snape person. He has me rooting for the other side now...

From: [identity profile] zdashamber.livejournal.com
Hey, Snape has all kinds of visible emotions! Anger... Frustration... Gleeful schadenfreude...

Anyway, you're so right. But I hold that Snape is still a "good guy" and will have to die for it in Book 7 because heaven forbid the main character have to accept and deal with someone he wrongfully wrote off... Bah!

Don't bother denying it. I know I'm correct on the final two:

2. Geordi LaForge
7. Goldie.

You really need to explain this Odo thing to me, there just wasn't enough time in the car to get the whole story. Come on, I'm dying of curiosity...

Um... Just something in the shape of the face and nose. Also, I was knackered and caffineated... And you seem like you might be able to sing "Le Poisson" with the best of them... :)

Ah..ok. Well, since it was obviously a compliment, thank you!
