So, it seems to me that there must be something in the world that's a cross between a mouse and a ballpoint pen. A pointing device that you can hold in your hand and direct as if you were writing. Every time I have to do art on a computer I become deeply aware of the necessity of something that isn't as clumsy or as random as a mouse.

I have the faint impression that this is instead done with sensitive writing surfaces, which are perhaps referred to as "tablets". Hard to tell, since I seem to have entered a realm where everything has the same name as everything else. All I want to know is, do these "tablets" come in wireless?

Actually, what I really want to know is why there aren't stave-mice. Who wouldn't want to surf the internet while standing solemnly in a dojo making fine manipulations with a long stick? Whose heart does not thrill at the thought of beating the crap out of intruding ninjas with one's mouse? "brb - ninjas"

Thanks! BTW, congratulations on having found Jimmy. He looks very sweet. And you don't look at all like a manatee!

Yeah, that gadget what I found when I was looking for tablets, but the tablet itself is a USB thing. Hm... It's a good link, though; I can poke around in the comments to find out about more tablet options. Thanks!

My grandfather used to dabble in computer doodling with a mouse-pen, which looked vaguely like a pen with a giant block (which held the ball) for a tip, and a left-clicker where the index finger would be.

...yeah, not so hot.

(Came in via [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes.)

Actually, it sort of sounds like it'd be worth a try... You could do the block part in marble, and it'd be camouflaged as an executive desk set thing when not in use...

[insert golf commentary voice]

[Narrator 1] Now, with the development of these new stave-mice tools, I sense a new weapon in the continous war between the ninjas and the pirates. The pirates are slightly more technosavvy than the ninjas, so they have the upper hand here.

[Narrator 2] I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. The ninjas also have more practical experience with long pointy things.

[Narrator 1] Let's not take that out of context.

[Narrator 2] Speaking of swords and things, such as staffs, sai, daggers--ninjas definately have the experience under their belts to back them up.

[Narrator 1] Plus, they have lighter belts.

[Narrator 2] Well, yes, that's true. The question still remains, though: will the ninjas, even armed with the new weapon, be enough to face off the firearm-armed pirates?

[Narrator 1] The battle seems to be constantly ongoing.
