ACUS update
Mar. 11th, 2008 10:48 pmI just figured out that on Thursday to get to the con I have to get up at 4 in the morning. To ride a bus! To ride another bus! To ride a plane, which is Southwest leaving out of Oakland, which has a friendly coffee stand, so that's not so bad. Until they dump me at Midway!!! And then I ride another plane to Detroit!! Still on Southwest, but even so, I might be a bit peeved. And then a taxi! Which at least will be with
notshakespeare.
Then, with any kind of luck, I take a nap! Oy. But all of this is with about 1-hour layovers, and there's no quicker way to fly. So, woe.
But it's not all that woeful, since then I get to be surrounded by awesome people and play awesome games for four days.

That, my friends, is a fucking all star lineup. It also took a lot of work to get ready for... ShadowWorld and Aurellis, the two "games that have existed forever which I have not yet tried", both have involved-ass pre-con chargens. Sol's Dashing Blades game and Kindred's Double Dozen Seas game I have awesome characters for, but there was checking them and writing them up to inform the other players... And I made a few tweaks to Red that I still need to tie off. Er, friend in a high place, Sol? Considered for awhile being able to signal practically anything with the hands alone, after watching haxxored downloads of the Star Wars Clone Wars animated stuff, because the Republic's clone troops were pretty cool, but since I doubt the other players would attend it seems a bit out of genre. ;)
drusni's Firefly game is pregens, thank all the gods, and "Riddles in the Attic" I just had to write up a small bit for a character I thought up basically at the first drop... Of course, I convinced myself that reading a few books for research was totally fine. So I re-read "Boy" and "Going Solo" by Roald Dahl, which I highly recommend, he's really a great writer and lived in interesting times; and "West With the Night" which my grandmother had given me for Christmas; and various dishy webpages about Beryl Markham to figure out what she ellided from "West With the Night", and now I know a lot more about the British in pre-WWII-war east Africa than I knew a month ago.
Alas, I did not get time to watch "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle". Critical research missed out on. Maybe I can watch it on the plane. =D I also should send Tim H an email and write some more stuff up and fold stuff and pack stuff and! Gya! I need to taste-test the scotch to see if I should bring it to the con!
I did up a tracking sheet of everyone I'm in games with (except for Aurellis, where Tim H did not send an specific email to my slot, so I'm not certain who else is in it). It's remarkably well-distributed... The closest I come to stalking anybody is David McC, who I love, who I'm in 3, maybe 4 games with. I get to see almost everyone I love in some game or another, and meet new people besides.
The playtest for Volatile, some weeks back, was great fun. I got sick a few weeks back, and have temporarily lost contact with all files Oct 06-July 08, and thus I failed to do art, but
curgoth's stuff looks presentable...
Dear me. Clothes to fold. Ironing to consider. Bags to drag out of closet. Also, I need to deposit checks and get cash. When! Aaa! Scotch!
