In which I am potentially diverting
Aug. 8th, 2006 01:21 amThis was fun when
mtfierce did it, so as the great man says, let's see what happens...
Request a drabble! Which is to say, a microfiction, fandom of your choice. Anonymous requests allowed, as are specific characters, but no requests as to subject, length, or content. One request per person. Possible universes: any game I've been involved with, Batman, Sandman, X-men, Amber, Harry Potter, the Vorkosiverse, Buffy, Firefly, any other 'verse you think I know, or a mix of any of those.

Date: 2006-08-09 04:45 am (UTC)"Not everything I use is yours," the Batman remarked mildly. Unusual as it was to see him in the light of day, he did not bother to look out of place in Fell's towering skylit breakfast nook. Fell glared at him blearily.
"Tell me about the faulty nerve disruptors that have killed eight in the past two weeks," Batman said.
"You must know they're not mine, or you'd have beaten the bacon out of me by now. ...I've noticed the problem, but it's not someone skimming off our rejects. So far as I can tell, not my business."
Batman's eyes narrow. Fell glances down at his cooling toast, to give him a chance to stalk off. "I miss having Lilly here to eat with," he mutters.
Brain melts.

Date: 2006-08-09 05:14 am (UTC)I kept my hands up and my thoughts running. It would be extremely embarassing for the king of Amber to be shot dead in a spaceship that looked like a garage. Vialle would cry. The cool brown woman with the rifle looked capable of shooting me before I could jump the captain.
"I don't mean no harm," I tried, slipping into their accent. Not too different from Mirata's. "I just got hungry. I can cook."
"Where've you been hiding for the past two days?" he demanded, unmollified. A bullethole or two would make the upcoming meeting with the Rebman ambassadors even more excruciating.
"Um..." I glanced around cargo hold. "You got me. I'm the king of a faraway world and I move from place to place magically. I stepped onto this ship mid-flight to take a breather."
"Cap'n?" asked the brown woman flatly. She was reminding me more and more of Moire. A younger woman, very slight, who'd been hiding in the shadows above, interrupted, also talking to the captain. "He isn't lying."
"He-- what?!" the captain turned to the slight woman. "He's a magic king?" She shrugged affirmation, wide-eyed and innocent-looking. She was enjoying this.
"Also, I can cook," I added. Smirking.

Date: 2006-08-11 06:58 am (UTC)"You may not be the king of Amber anymore, but you'll always be the king of the obvious," Shu snarked back, wings flapping once to steady himself on the sea of bodies that stretched to the horizon in nearly every direction.
Harmakhis, as ever, suggested a distraction, nodding his lion's head towards the one break in the plain of corpses, "That's got to be what we're looking for, right?"
"Yeah. It feels like there's an open door in there to some other plane..."
The chunky office building surrounded by corpses was remarkably unprepossessing. The approaching gods saw the three living figures looking out through the broad glass windows before they were seen. "The tall one looks sort of like the Amber type..." Harmakhis remarked hopefully before they crashed through the window into the midst of the panicking humans. The bland-faced woman was running for the inner door, followed by the shorter paler man, while the tanner fellow (who on closer examination did not have the same face type as the men of Amber) attempted to fight. There was no sound, though, and when all three of the humans turned to gang up on a spot slightly to the left of Horus he said thoughtfully, "I don't think they're interacting with us at all..."
Shu rolled his eyes. "Come on, let's try for the door."
