Me: "Hm! I was just thinking to myself, you people eat such small portions! But then I was thinking that maybe I was just hungrier than normal because of the change in altitude... My body is making more red blood cells to carry more oxygen in this oxygen-lacking environment."
My sister, grinning: "You are such a nerd."
Me, feigning taken-abackedness: "Hey! I thought that was neat!"
My dad: "But what about white blood cells?"
Me: "Red blood cells are just white blood cells moving towards you at near-light speeds."
Also? All those people who are like, "Oh, why are you saying it's cold in the Bay Area, you're from Colorado" can just sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up. :D 70+ every single day. I sit at the computer in a t-shirt and bare feet. I walk outside getting hot in the unzipped flapping coat I insist on wearing despite the bafflement of my family. It's warmer here now than it gets in all but two months of Bay Area weather. It's niiiice.
Seriously... Maybe it's that in Colorado you get some respite? And then, there's the sunlight, which means something here. Perhaps later I will talk about how nice it is to not have thousands of tons of excess air diffracting the sun from warming my cheek.
