Mirrormask

I promisedwhumpdotcom I'd put up a review of Mirrormask. Thus:
It was good. The plot was pretty much exactly that of Labyrinth, but better. The fillips were better, and the characters were better. The images were neat. It was creepy how very much it was like a Dave McKean cover that moved. There were very few scenes in which it looked like people in front of a bluescreen. And there were some just kickass scenes where some sparking young animator nailed character through movement...
I saw nods to Hayao Miyazaki and Terry Gilliam (both Python and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen"). Stephanie Leonidas is fun to watch. They avoid the "this is all a dream la la la I can't hear you" bullshit that wastes so much time in many similar books and movies.
I fear it's headed quickly to DVD, so I say: grab your chance to be able to brag to geeks of the future, "Oh, Mirrormask? I saw that in the theaters."
