zdashamberI've been exploring the area around my house, determined to join the city life this time. Paid off to a degree this morning, when, after a week of being defeated by the toaster (lovely solid chunk of toaster, apparently has only one moving part, that being the toast darkness knob, how the hell do I get the bread to stay down and start toasting?! Gave up after poking at it with a butter knife for not quite enough time to get electrocuted) I threw up my hands and went to the donut shop I found Wednesday. (Heh. The keyboard of Le Mac Pathetique is vastly more prone to typos, and just now said "donot shop"... Bah, Mac, I cannot be swayed!)
Trouble with donut shops, I remembered, is that it's a hopeless struggle to be understood. "A couple of donut holes" somehow becomes "a dozen". "That donut there, without the hole..." There's only one on the tray without a hole! Next time, I'll try the bakery across the street run by the Jewish hippie. He has hamentaschen, and baseball caps on the wall with the teams names in Hebrew.
He was telling me that apparently on Sunday the 7th, in McLaren park in SF, there will be a free "Jerry Day" concert in memory of Jerry Garcia, music starting around 12:30.
And speaking of music, one of my housemates, the one in the band... She just sent out an email asking if it would be ok if on the 21st, her friends Bloodhag crashed on our couch! Ha-ha! I'll find out if there's to be a concert and alert you in time, this time.
