Immunity: Sound

I'm immune to the sound of nails on the blackboard; used to use it as a terrorist threat in elementary school (hand hovering clawlike over the board, "Why don't you guys just back off?"). I barely note the sound of plastic 6-well plates screeching across the bottom of the cell culture incubator. Kids crying, dogs barking, birds chirping; water off a duck. But apparently, my Immunity: sound has a limit. And that limit is the sound of the hideously untuned engine of the ancient Winnebago below my window, or maybe the equally shitty truck that's trying to jump it, screeching of all belts and ululating and Oh God it took literally 2 seconds before I had my ears stopped up while simultaneously trying to get WinAmp on and loud as possible...

Eventually my saviors, the Beatles, appear. "You're going to lose that girl..."

Judging by the noises coming through from the background, I'm going to lose her to nightgaunts. Bummer.
