This is Just to Say
Mar. 1st, 2004 10:37 pmI have bought
the car
that was new
from Honda
the shiny
midnight blue
Insight--
the hybrid.
Forgive me.
It was irresistible
so small
and so sleek.

As you may recognize if you've read Teresa Nielsen Hayden's "Slushkiller", I'm riffing here on William Carlos Williams's poem This is Just to Say; further inspired by the excellent Guy Noir Prairie Home Companion sketch on the subject.
Oh, wait, did you come back here to learn more about the car?
Hee hee hee.

Date: 2004-03-02 08:21 am (UTC)My car turned 10 last summer, and despite the teeny number of miles on her, I know I'll need to give her up eventually. A recent perusal of the Saturn website revealed that none of their new models (or current colors) are as cool as my baby. So hybrids have jumped way up the list of my possible future cars. (If I can resist the Mini, that is....)

Date: 2004-03-02 02:19 pm (UTC)(The past few years I've been developing a strange affection for the landbarge-type car body, the "Chrysler as big as a whale" sort of completely flat car, maybe with tailfins. Tailfins are nifty.
And at the Forney Museum of Transportation (http://www.forneymuseum.com), my favorite was the Stutz.)
