So, not feeling arsed to do dinner, today I just waited until I was hungry and then carried the package of sliced Oscar Meyer cube ham off to my room. Just now, deciding after four slices that I'd had enough old ham for the evening and ought to put it back in the fridge before it got older, I carried it back to the kitchen, where the kettle was burbling and my housemate, E, was peering despondently into the fridge. She looks up as I come in, sees the ham, and her face lights up. She holds her hands out, cupped. I place the ham in them with a smile, and retreat back to my room.

I like being able to provide for people I like.
