¡Yay! ¡Los Juegos Olímpicos!
Aug. 16th, 2004 06:40 pmSunday morning I was glancing at the TV guide, and I'm like, "Hm, what's this other Olympics block?" I flip over. It's Telemundo—and it's clearer than any other station on the dial! Whoo-hooo!
So I watched the first half of the Iraq/Costa Rica soccer game... It was fun to catch bits of the commentary, like "Saddam" and "Qusay Hussein" and "era torturados". The crowd was extremely pro-Iraq; they booed every kick the Costa Ricans made on the Iraqi goal. They were pumped up.
Also: vastly weird: 45 minutes of TV without a single commercial. God, that was strange! They showed the entire first half without pause! I think I really like Telemundo. (It's all live! Yay!)
Today I watched a boxing match between two lightweight-looking guys. The guy from the Spanish-speaking country Owned the guy from Greece. I've never seen boxing before... Didn't realize it was that fast. I couldn't tell when points were scored, though I bet if I kept watching I'd catch on. I did catch more of the commentary... Like, the guy from the Spanish-speaking country (sorry, forgot which one) was 26. I think. Anyway, fun on so many levels.
A thing I forgot to mention from the Parade of Nations (in English, on tape delay): did anyone else notice how handsome all the athletes were? Men and women both, there were just a ton of really good-looking people. I'm wondering if it's that being young and very healthy makes people look good, or if I just like the way pretty much everyone looks...
