Quizzes: How choice! How rare!
Jun. 6th, 2004 10:02 pmSo, after I had finished reading Sethra Lavode and was luxuriating in the afterglow, I went looking for a "Which Dragaeran House are You?" quiz, since surely there must be one. And, indeed, there was:
My #1 result for the SelectSmart.com selector, Dragaeran House selector, is Lyorn
And then it ranked me all the way down the list of 12 houses they considered, of which I note the next three entries (since you gotta stop somewhere):
#2 Dragon
#3 Issola
#4 Jhereg
The Lyorn thing (and the rest) tickled me pink, but dear god, I must warn you of the rampant raging ads at that site.

I figured it'd be a waste for them to make all the images and not have them as links, so I made this up myself with a screen capture and some photoshopping to shrink it. The quiz is in Flash. I'm pleased with this one, too. :) Got it from Doyce.

You are Sweeney Todd. Sure, life's given you
lemons, but you didn't need to chop down the
whole lemon grove. Still, driven mad by grief
and fury, you'll make a bloody name for
yourself, both on Fleet Street and on Broadway,
for your cunning, your ruthlessness, and your
inability to lay the past to rest before you
destroy it yourself.

And finally, from
aiyume comes Mind Media's Brain Usage Profile:

Right : 40%
zdashamber, you are mildly left-hemisphere dominant while showing a slight preference for auditory processing. This overall combination seems to indicate a well-working blend of logic and judgment and organization, with sufficient intuition, perception and creativity to balance that dominance.
You will at times experience conflict between how you feel and what you think which will generally be resolved in favor of what you think. You will find yourself interested in the practical applications of whatever material you have learned or whatever situation you face and will retain the ability to refine whatever knowledge you possess or aspects of whatever position you are in.
By and large, you will orient yourself toward intellectual activities and structure. Though not rigid, you will schedule yourself, plan, and focus on routine and continuity of operations, rather than on changes and disruptions
When changes or disruptions occur, you are likely to consider first how to ensure that such disruptions do [sic] The same balance is reflected in your sensory preference. You will tend to be reflective and measured in your interaction style. For the most part, you will be considered objective without being cold and goal-oriented while retaining the capacity to listen to others.
Preferentially you learn by listening and maintaining significant internal dialogues with yourself.
Brain: Bullshit!
Madeline: You're just saying that.
Brain: True, true.
Nevertheless, you have sufficient visualization capabilities to benefit from using graphs, charts, doodles, or even body movement to enhance your comprehension and memory.
Brain: Body movement? Now that is bullshit.
Madeline: Right you are.
Brain: Though I suppose there's the ticking off of things on hands. And the placing of abstract ideas in space to sort them out, like, "Alright, so First, we get the tire inflated, and Then, we go pay the mob off..." You do that with your hands sometimes.
Madeline: True, but I don't think that's so much about "body movement" as it is "spatial memory" which this test doesn't cover.
Brain: True, true.
To the extent that you are even implicitly aware of your hemispheric dominance and sensory style, you will feel most comfortable in those arenas which emphasize verbal skills and logic. Teaching, law, and science are those that stand out among the professions, along with technical sales and management.
Brain: Management? ::Sneeeeerk::
Madeline: They really don't have a very good grasp of what arenas teaching and management emphasize, do they? Still, the test wasn't too far wrong.
