Geek moment for today
May. 26th, 2004 09:29 amI was sitting on the floor putting on socks this morning, and noticed that the sock in my hand had a decorative band of weave up only one side, and as I had it, it was going to be going up the inside of my leg. I moved to put it on the other foot, meanwhile thinking, "Dammit, these socks have chirality!"
Hee hee hee...
(I actually really like the word "chiral", which means "handed" in Greek, and is pronounced ky-ral. I think it might make a nice girl's name. Chiral Robertson, say.) (Also, the socks do not, in fact, have chirality. They just tend to crinkle up when not worn, so only one side's weaveband is visible. Load off my mind, let me tell you. Hah!)
