So, the San Francisco Chronicle online just changed its look, and asked for feedback. Alas, the new look is unreadably leaded with a horrible serif font, but it seems that they're getting politely hammered by comments telling them so, so I have solid hope that they'll mend their evil ways. I added a comment to the heap (jus' doin' my part) and included the lines "... the new leading is such that the spacing between letters is about a third of the spacing between words. ... I can't read the webpage anymore without closely focusing on picking out every letter, because the words all blend together with letters floating around in whitespace like Cheerios in milk."

Which metaphor amused me greatly, but when I went to attempt to read some of the sfgate tabs I'd opened before noting the change I decided I'd gone a bit overboard with it. Back to my d8s in "Create Odious Metaphor." I summon up the brilliant metaphor, unique and robust, and then with its strength it picks me up and carries me away, and when it sets me down I sometimes look around and think, Oew, hm. Dangerous ground—

—And I'm composing this LJ post in my head when I reach that point and kind of throw my head back and wince.
