A reconstituted bit of dialog from tonight's game:

Martin: "...And that's why we should all work together even though we might not want to."
Jael: "Funny to hear talk about how we should all work together to save Garnath from the man who arranged to have my mother killed."
Martin: "I didn't mean for her to be killed."
Jael: "You arranged for troops to invade Rebma to stop her from taking the throne. How did you think that was going to happen?"

Couldn't help but be reminded of this. "Everyone knows he climbs to the top of the Empire State Building. What did you think happened next?" "I thought that, you know... Maybe he climbed back down..."

Everything reminds me of something. It's a fun way to live life. Whee!

Ya know, that reminds me...

Oh wait, it doesn't remind me of anything at all.

Hold on a minute, how about....

Ah, no, doesn't remind me of that, either.

Say, does this comment remind you of anything? A meme is a terrible thing to waste.

A meme is a terrible thing to waste.

Reminds me of "Theme from 'A Summer Place'."

Which always reminds me of 'on hold' music.

"Please hold, all of our memes are busy at the moment."

Don't know it, but hum a few bars and I'll fake it.

Reminds me of "You Know You're Only Dreaming" from In Search of Space.

"Please hold, all of our memes are busy at the moment."

That reminds me of a gag from an Abbott & Costello movie:

Telephone Operator: The li-ine is busy.

Lou Costello: I told you, I don't wanna talk to no lion.

Reminds me of the story about an online gamer who didn't spellcheck, and thus was continually leaping into battle with his loins roaring.

You ever get the notion you're caught in a race?

So what else happened in the game? Curious one-time attendees want to know. :)

There have been two sessions since last you joined our ranks. In session 7, Deirdre (who was comatose after poking the happy fun Gerard) was killed. Orlando, Deirdre's only friend, bloodcursed Jael under the mistaken impression she was responsible, which was rather an unpleasant surprise, but I've come to terms with it. Meanwhile, Tristan and Tsark and Martin fought the forces that were pouring out of the Black Circle into Garnath, and there were lots of family gatherings, for Deirdre's funeral, Victoria's wake, and Sora's "Hi I'm a new family member!" ball. (Sora is Mary's new character, daughter of Random.) Oh, and Tsark did pull his troops out of Rebma.

In Session 8, yesterday, which covered about 6 months of game time, Jael built forts alongside Faiella-Bionin in the water-breather parts, so that any force coming down those stairs will encounter a miles-long continuous ambush; and she moved troops from Atlantis into Rebma given that there were a hell of a lot of troops moving into Garnath. Tristan set up some shadowblocks to try to stop her, but those were dealt with. Jenna's raids on Tsark's trade are much increased and well-backed, and so far Tsark's small attempts to bulk up his defenses and lay traps for Jenna have failed. Gawain and Khrim went off and destroyed the populations of the two shadows where most of the Black Road denizens were coming from. The Black Circle was pwnz0red, and there was a little bit of fussing around trying to fix the actual problem instead of the symptoms.
