I can take a complete shower in under 2 minutes! In other news, yesterday PG&E shut off our main gas line because it had a leak in it.

So far I'm 1 for 2 on gas leaks. At the old place, there were a couple tiny leaks in the laundry room, and eventually I called PG&E and a guy came out and said, Those are tiny, good nose, and fixed them, and checked out our heating register and showed me the gas shut-off valve, and it was neat. At this place, we could sometimes smell gas out front, and yesterday I had to hang around while the PG&E guy came and doubted me and wandered all over and finally found there was a tiny leak in the main line under the house and shut the whole thing off. Feh.

I did locate the way to get under the house, though, when no others could, and as soon as I get some decent batteries into the flashlight, and have the surety of being able to shower and wash my clothes after, I'm going to check it out. There's an odd square patch of flooring in the living room, half under some bookshelves, and I want to know if it's a trapdoor.

I also got to watch the gas get shut off. The guy couldn't do it with a crescent wrench and his whole weight at first, so he banged on the back of the valve and used the wrench to loosen some big bolt back there. It seemed to involve an awful lot of banging for something you might have to do with a lot of gas leaking after an earthquake. Still, potentially useful info.

Last night at around 11:30 I laid a book down for just a moment or so, and woke up at 2:30. I think I'd been having some half-dream that involved not opening my eyes. So I got into my nightshirt and turned off the lights and woke up again at 10:30 this morning. Odd. I've been getting waylaid by sleep a lot this week. I think I'm getting old. ;)

I got tickets to ACNW yesterday. Due to arrive at Portland around 11:10, which should give me plenty of time to get settled in and hang out with [livejournal.com profile] muri_san et al. Joy! Alas, if I'd bought the tickets a couple weeks earlier, they would have been $20-40 cheaper, but even after being on the Southwest mailing list for a year for just this reason (well, and also checking to see if they were ever going to let me get to Vegas and back for under $120), and alerting a bunch of other Bay Area folks, I still missed the boat. Ahwell.

If any other Bay Area folk are interested, I did my usual OCD thing of checking every airline that flies between PDX and SFO or OAK, and made up a spreadsheet. Ya gotta wonder why Delta is bankrupt, y'know? Maybe they need to retune their advertising. I suggest: "Delta Airlines: for when you absolutely, positively, must spend twice the going rate: to fly to Salt Lake City."

Tried out the Korean place near my house. It was packed with happy-looking Korean families, friendly waitstaff... Alas, the food I got was inedible to me. Highly unusual. I eat almost anything I buy or make. V. sad.

The obvious Thai place near my house turned out to be entirely "meh", if that. However, my finely-tuned Thai sense (snerk) has detected another, hiding closer to downtown... Next on the list.
