Today, I learned a valuable lesson: Never again will I think to myself, Oh, Hey, Jane Lindskold's latest wolf book, Dragonsomething, is probably out in paperback now... I wonder if X used bookstore has it?
I just can't afford it. Not only is it better for Lindskold if I buy the book new, it's cheaper for me.
So, anyway, today I turned 18-some books I won't read again into 12-some books I haven't read yet, or have read and loved and will be pressing on unsuspecting friends... And a $25 debit... And that was with a good price at one bookstore! (Pegasus, on Solano. Sell your books there! Half-Price are cheap bastards! But they have a used RPG section. Damn their eyes! They had a copy of the ADRPG. I resisted. I bet it'll still be there if you want it, though.)
I've been getting better about my lifelong book addiction. I can now put a book down without finishing it at about 2, or even 1, instead of reading through to the end at 4 in the morning...
But I've got a long way to go. When I realize in the first 5 pages that the writing is crap... When after 100 it's still crap... That is the hour to add to the pile of books leaving my house.
Ahwell.
