Great day. I got the Deadlands book! Ordered it off eBay. Opened it up and read the title page and kinda winced... See, I'd run into Shane Lacy Hensley at ConQuest. He'd mentioned he'd been one of the guys who worked on Deadlands... I didn't realize he was the guy.

The guy! It's like if I'd run into Erick Wujcik and mentioned that I loved Amber, and I really needed to pick up the rulebook at some point, and forgot his name over the course of the conversation, and later mentioned on my LJ that he seemed nice, and it might be fun to invite him to play some Amber oneshots... Oh dear. Hee hee hee hee hee! I hope my honest love of the game shone though my ignorance.

Because, dear god, I love that game. Reading the first couple of chapters, all I want to do is make half a dozen characters and play them... (Also: "If you need some dice, you should be able to get them where you got this book ..." If? ::snerk-grin!::)

I think that this is the only gamebook I've ever bought, actually... (Well, up 'til I went on a "help GoO" kick, and bought Ghost Dog on Simone's recommendation.) (I mean, aside from random supplements that didn't look too crummy that I found in used bookstores, and GURPS Lensman that I bought off eBay to see what they'd done with it.) And I bought it because I'd like to run more, and for some reason, Deadlands seems like it would be a great thing to run with... Perhaps it's that Amber doesn't lend itself so well to episodic sessions.

I'm less likely to think, "Oh, that nice Shane fellow, I wonder if he's found a group yet? He could come join ours!" though... Man. ::grinning and rubbing nose::

I wonder if he's found a group, though. ;)
