Ok, guys, another fashion question for you. What goes with dark brown?

I've happened into two pairs of brown slacks; a color I might poetically call "tobacco", but which is actually to my mind a shade or two darker than that. Alas, suddenly my shirt choices are greatly restricted, which pains a heart grown fat on denim and khaki. It seems to me that the only colors that go are the warm colors and white... All of you black backers take note, Black and Dark Brown do not a match make. (Or do they? I admit, I do it sometimes when I run low on laundry.)

But dark brown and red? I dunno, it seems like it needs something else to break it up a bit. Dark brown and pink? Now we get onto worrying territory. And what about some shades of blue? I mean, any of the dark rich colors seem out, like crimson, or forest green (of the warm yellow half of the green spectrum). But the light colors... I was lucky enough to get an opinion on dark brown and lavender at last years' ACNW from someone too tipsy to pull her punches, and have avoided that since... (The color combination. Punchy advice, I court; qv.)

I've been being bold with brown lately. Brown and black, brown and navy, brown and pale blue, carried off with a devil may care attitude that I look great in it despite what the world may. But I've red-head colouring, with red-brown hair, pale skin and freckles, so brown suits me anyway, and I can get away with riskier combinations because it looks like an accent, rather than an equal colour combination. At least, that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

I think there should be a decent range of greens that will go with. (Anybody gives you grief, tell them you were in a Robin Hood mood this morning. ;-P)
