zdashamber: painting - a frog wearing a bandanna (Default)
Home sick from work today. One side of the street in front of my house is 2-hour parking 8-6 Mon-Sat, which means that every even hour I have to go move my car from one spot to the next. Just now I glanced out the window and saw a parking enforcement car lurking near mine. WTF! I've got nearly 10 minutes yet! I throw on cowboy boots (quickest) and rush out to confront. The parking guy, though, is focused on a car 2 spaces ahead of mine... It's booted, there's a tow truck. I slip my car out of his evil net.

But alas! The booted towed car is Dread Girl's! Apparently its history held like 11 tickets. She was out talking to the parking cop, but there was nothing to be done. $8-900 to get it out of hock.

Very sad. Ye with parking, know how ye are blessed.

Also, I got to scope out the boot. Looks like the whole thing is held together with just a padlock. However, it seems that a cop will guard the booted car until a tow truck takes it away. So the best tools are a bolt cutter for quickest removal of the padlock, and a friend to provide a distraction.
